Dog Friendly Carolina & Kure Beach

(certain restrictions apply per property with paid pet charge)

Are you ready for a fun-filled, action-packed trip to Carolina Beach? Our team at Victory Beach Vacations knows that no seaside sojourn is complete without your favorite four-legged doggy! Our pristine coastline is a treasure trove of beautiful beaches and we have a great selection of dog-friendly vacation rentals in Carolina Beach and Kure Beach to settle into and enjoy a tail-wagging beach vacation of a lifetime!

Pleasure Island is home to some of North Carolina’s most beautiful beaches. Carolina and Kure Beach share miles of peaceful blue waters and white sands, an inviting playground for both you and your pet. Your pooch will love our coastline as much as you – soft sands to dig in, scenic trails to explore and warm sunny skies to bask under. Local leash laws are strict and it’s best to plan your trip accordingly.  We have done your homework for you and found the best places for you to explore Pleasure Island with your furry friend.

Best Places to Play with your Pooch

  • There are plenty of scenic quiet residential streets to take your best friend for his daily walk.
  • Explore the miles of trails and the diverse ecosystems of Carolina Beach State Park, a 761-acre park at the north end of Pleasure Island along the Intracoastal Waterway. Dogs must be on a leash and are welcome on the trails and the shoreline, however not in the park buildings and swimming areas.
  • Freeman Park in Carolina Beach is a fun place to cruise with your pet while crabbing and beach-combing the white sands. You can four-wheel drive for a fee or park near the entrance and walk in. Dogs are required to be leashed in season, however, the rest of the year they are allowed off-leash.
  • At the south end of Pleasure Island in Kure Beach is the tail-friendly Fort Fisher State Recreation Area with seven miles of dune-backed white sand beaches for your furry friend to explore, except in the swimming areas. The Basin Trail begins at the south end of the parking lot through a forest, across a marsh to a World War II bunker.
  • Set your pet completely free at the Gurney Hood Barking Lot, an off-leash park in Joe Eakes Park, Kure Beach, and Carolina Beach Dog Park at Mike Chapel Park off Dow Road. A fenced-in area behind the playground where your pet can run, play and socialize with other canine pals. Waterdogs need not be kept from exploring Carolina Beach’s waters! Cruise the scenic waters of the Cape Fear River with a kayak or canoe rental or start your day early with some fishing as you explore the Intracoastal Waterway on a comfortable pontoon boat. Dogs are welcome on the Cape Fear!
