Explore The Deep Blue Depths
The waters of Kure Beach hide a diver’s dream. Kure Beach is home to the ruins of Civil War ships, fossils and other treasures from the past. Looking for a diving adventure? Several of the local dive shops offer tours making it possible to explore many of the local underwater treasures. These chartered dives feature outings that explore the shipwrecks and natural ledges. If you don’t have a diving certification, don’t worry most of the shops also offer diving classes. What a cool way to spend some time during your Kure or Carolina Beach vacation!
Don’t forget to visit the North Carolina Underwater Archaeology Center, located right in Kure Beach. The center exhibits dive sites all over the North Carolina coast. You can also learn about the research being conducted along the North Carolina coast. Currently, there is an estimated 1,000 shipwrecks and sunken boats in North Carolina’s waters.
