Upcoming Events

Alligator Egg Hunt

The annual Alligator Egg Hunt will be held at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher on April 8th, 14th, and 15th. It offers children an opportunity to meet a live baby alligator, create their own special alligator egg basket and hunt for candy-filled eggs in the Aquarium’s garden.

5K Race for the Planet

Celebrate the Earth by participating in the 5K Race for the Planet on April 23rd. Fort Fisher will be your route as this race starts and ends at the Aquarium. This flat, mostly asphalt course is scenic with views of the ocean, maritime forest, and historic Fort Fisher Civil War site. Runners and walkers will receive reusable bags (guaranteed for the first 300), and free admission to the aquarium that day. Overall and age group winners receive eco-friendly medals too!

Pleasure Island Seafood, Blues & Jazz Festival

Rescheduled from October 2016, the 23rd Annual Pleasure Island Seafood Blues & Jazz Festival will be held on April 23rd. It will feature live music by Grammy Award-winning bluesman Jonny Lang. Held at the Fort Fisher Air Force Recreation Area in Kure Beach, this event will provide music that can’t be beaten and locally prepared seafood is simply the best in the region. Coolers and pets are not allowed, but bring your chairs, towels, and blankets for a great day of music and seafood at the coast.

Kure Beach 70th Anniversary Celebration

Celebrate all things Kure Beach with the town’s 70th Anniversary Celebration at the Ocean Front Park and Pavilion on April 28th and 29th. Enjoy live music Friday night with The Imitations and enjoy a Street Festival Saturday from 11 am – 5 pm featuring historical programming and more.
