10 Tips to Have a Budget Friendly Carolina Beach Vacation

Having a great family-friendly Carolina Beach vacation has never been easier and if you think it is too late to book a vacation…it’s not. This week we have all the best tips on how to have a budget-friendly beach vacation right here on Carolina Beach. One of North Carolina’s premier coastal destinations is surprisingly affordable, easily accessible, and loaded with family-friendly and most of all budget-friendly things to do and see. Here are all the best ways to have a budget-friendly beach vacation that won’t break the bank account.

1. Book direct & save.

Most travelers don’t realize it, but airlines, rental properties, and rental car companies pay dearly for business brokered by online booking sites and travel aggregators. Their commissions can be as high as 15%. Why not save that and book direct? That’s why we encourage customers to book directly through our secure website or to call us directly at (888) 256-4804.

Booking directly has many more advantages such as connecting with our local staff, local customer service, and local support staff. When you book directly with Victory Beach Vacations our family is here for your family.

2. Plan your meals and eat in more.

Few things can blow a family’s budget during vacation faster than eating out. Don’t get us wrong, eating out is a great part of any vacation, but with a little planning you can enjoy the best of Carolina Beaches’ dining and still save money.

On days where you are headed to the beach make sure to pack a cooler with your favorite treats, snacks, and, of course, plenty of water. Don’t forget all of our homes are nicely appointed with full kitchens so staying in for a great family dinner has never been easier than with one of our vacation homes.

3. Make sure to get your rewards!

If you’re going to use your credit card for purchases, during your vacation or to book your vacation, then why not get rewarded for doing so. When you use your credit card to make purchases with many cards you can dramatically boost your overall earnings: anywhere from 1% to 10%, and sometimes more, over your baseline cash back or point-accrual rate.

Plus, most premium travel rewards credit cards offer attractive sign-up bonuses for new customers. Credit cards are a great tool for travel. They offer more security than using a debit card and many provide concierge services that are handy. Plus, with all those rewards you can start saving for next years Carolina Beach vacation.

4. Look for last minute deals.

Last-minute trip planning is stressful and often more expensive than booking well in advance.

But not always. If you’ve put off those vacation plans or maybe just realized you do have time to book a Carolina Beach vacation, then there is still time.

If you need a Carolina Beach vacation home at the last minute, check last-minute deals on our site.  Often cancelations or motivated homeowners offer steeply discounted prices, often as far in advance as one week!

5. Look for free and local events.

Check community calendars in your destination for interesting opportunities that won’t cost much (or anything) out of pocket. You can usually find up-to-date calendars online at municipal or local/regional tourism websites. The sky’s the limit: Whatever’s cheap and catches your fancy is fair game. It’s worth reading our previous blog post: The Best Summer Events of 2018 on Pleasure Island which features loads of free events. Spoiler alert: We have free fireworks….every week!

6. Be flexible

When looking for the perfect time to visit Carolina Beach be flexible. Sure sometimes are busier than others but don’t automatically think those are the best times to visit.

Prices are based on supply and demand, so sometimes it’s much cheaper to leave the day before (or after) instead. Look around the dates of your travel plans and see if spending an extra day is worth it. This makes a difference, especially around major holidays.

Finally, the North Carolina coast is beautiful late into the season and early fall, so if you think September is too late to book a “summer” vacation….don’t worry September on Carolina Beach is an amazing time of year.

7. Dine out at lunch not dinner.

At traditional restaurants, lunch is almost always cheaper than dinner. The portions are smaller, the crowds are thinner, and there’s less alcohol flowing. This holds true in fancier places too. Rather than splurge on a fancy dinner at an upscale restaurant, make lunch your main meal. You’ll still spend a pretty penny, but far less than for a comparable dinner. Even if you don’t have the budget or inclination to splurge, you can save a great deal simply by reserving your restaurant meals for midday and cooking or eating prepared foods (see below) at dinner.

8. Sign up for deals via email notifications.

Ok, we know everyone gets bombarded with spam and junk email. 10. Stay close to home.

Well not that close, but maybe within your region. One of the best things about a Carolina Beach vacation is how accessible it is from many large metropolitan areas. From D.C. to Atlanta getting here is easy. With lots of flights coming in and out of Wilmington International Airport and great highways, there is no excuse to travel far away when right up or down the North Carolina coast from where you are you’ll find one of the best family destinations for your summer beach vacation.
