One of the great advantages of a Pleasure Island beach vacation is the location. For those adventurous types, or those just looking to explore this unique region of the North Carolina coast, Pleasure Island provides the perfect place to start your journey. Wilmington is just minutes down the road.
Airlie Gardens consists of 67 acres of beautifully manicured formal gardens. The grounds include meandering walking paths that allow visitors to take in all the beauty of one of the premier gardens of the coastal south. However, there is so much more. Take time to look at the historic structures and sculptures. The Gardens hold events throughout the year from yoga to bird-watching activities.
USS North Carolina allows visitors the unique opportunity to step back in time and tour a perfectly restored and maintained World War II Battleship. Kids will love hearing from the crew exploring all the different parts of the ship. Located right downtown, this is an easy day-trip from Carolina or Kure Beach. Amazing Local Restaurants
If you’re like us, a big part of any vacation is access to great local restaurants. Pleasure Island is a foodie paradise. We can’t talk about food on Carolina and Kure Beach without first talking about the incredible local seafood. From fried flounder to shrimp and grits, there is no end to the variety of fresh seafood you can indulge in during your vacation. If you love the sweeter side of things, we have plenty of ways to cure that sweet tooth craving. Make a stop at Britt’s Donut Shop where fresh donuts have been churned out since 1939. Britt’s is truly a Carolina Beach tradition.
