Carolina Beach Film & Fireworks Series
The town of Carolina Beach, N.C. will be hosting a "Film and Fireworks Series" this summer. The events will take place on Sundays and Thursdays beginning May 21, weather permitting. Family-friendly movies will be held at Carolina Beach Lake Park every Sunday and a fireworks display will be on the beach near the boardwalk each Thursday with a band performing from 6pm-9pm before the fireworks. Pleasure Island Free Summer Concert Series
The Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce hosts their Free Summer Concerts at the Fort Fisher Air Force Recreation Area located along the Cape Fear River. They are held on the second and fourth Fridays in June, July and August (weather permitting). Grab the children, bring a chair or blanket and prepare to sit back, relax and enjoy some great music from 6 to 8 PM. This year you are allowed to bring your own food. Always held the second weekend in October, when the weather's warm, the sun is shining and the ocean breezes are fluttering, bring your lawn chairs and family to the Pleasure Island Seafood, Blues and Jazz Festival. Music lovers revel in two days of non-stop jazz and blues on two stages, performed by nationally and regionally recognized musicians. Seafood lovers enjoy scrumptious seafood from some of the area's best restaurants. There's plenty of shopping at booths hosted by crafters and local shop owners, a fine arts plaza and a wine tasting. Fishing starts Friday at midnight and ends Sunday at noon. No boats, sound or pier fishing. The awards dinner is Sunday from Noon until 2pm followed by the awards ceremony at Federal Point Shopping Center. Over $12,000 in cash and prizes based on 250 entries. Island of Lights - Light Up The Lake
The light up ceremony officially begins the month long Island of Lights Festival. Entertainment is provided by local Boy Scouts and Carolina Beach Elementary School Chorus. Island of Lights Holiday Flotilla
Fishing boats and pleasure crafts electrically decorated with thousands of lights present a spectacular display on the Intracoastal Waterway. The parade of boats will cruise from Snows Cut to Carolina Beach Boat Basin and back. A unique coastal tradition sure to please the hearts of all. Cash prizes are awarded. Island of Lights New Year's Eve Countdown
The Island of Lights countdown features the lowering of a giant lighted beach ball. A street dance featuring live music precedes a spectacular fireworks display to welcome in the New Year.
