The Pleasure Island Fresh Market begins it second fall season Saturday, September 10 and runs through December 3 at the Carolina Beach Municipal Marina in the grassy area in front and to the side of the boat basin. Ghost Hike @ Fort Fisher
Come accompany a Ranger down the trails of Fort Fisher State Recreation Area to explore the unexplained phenomenon that surrounds the Fort Fisher Area. These trails are closed during night hours but they will be open this night for those who join the Ranger on the ghost hike. You may bring flashlights if you like. You must call 910-458-5798 to reserve your spot because space is limited. Meet at the visitor center at 7:30pm. OCTOBER 22 - TWO HIKES 7:30pm & 8pm!!

Fort Fisher Fall Festival
Ready for some fun this fall? Highlights of the fall festvial include scenic hayrides, children's activities, guided tours, and multiple firings of the site's "big gun", the 32-pound rifled and banded cannon. The event also marks the debut of a special new exhibit: the Freeman Medal of Honor and its associated artifacts. At 1:30pm, in the visitor's center, Curator of History, Ray Flowers, will discuss the history of this fascinating exhibit, including the acquisition of these impressive Civil War artifacts and the brave soldier behind the medal. Tours of the site will be offered at 9:30am, 11:30am, and 3:30pm. Cannon firings are scheduled for 10am, 12noon, 2pm, 4pm, and 5:30pm Free. 910-458-5538

Fort Fisher Fall/Halloween Festival
Come join the staff of Fort Fisher State Recreation Area for a fun afternoon of spooky programs, Fall/Halloween themed games, candy for Trick-or-Treaters and a hayride! Festivities begin at 2pm at Fort Fisher State Recreations Area's parking lot. Be sure to visit Fort Fisher State Historic Site before visiting us for more fun. The Hayride will be provided as a shuttle between Fort Fisher State Recreation Area and Fort Fisher State Historic Site. Vendors from the local community will be there to provide more exciting activities for you and your family. Two Ghost Hike programs will be offered that night at 7:30pm and 8pm. Make sure to call 910-458-5798 to reserve your spot because space is limited.

Trick or Treat Under the Sea
Families can enjoy thrills and gills in same day. Indoor trick-or-treating, face painting, story-telling and haunted gardens are some of the highlights at this family oriented fun Halloween party at the Aquarium. Look for our spooky divers in the big tank! Admission is $6, children 2yrs and under free. Umbrella strollers only. Children 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult. 3rd Annual Christmas by the Sea
Beginning Friday, November 25 the Boardwalk oceanfront landscaped coves will come alive with merriment and decorations, thanks to local businesses and groups who have sponsored the various coves. Island of Lights Christmas Parade
The Christmas parade furnishes exceptional night time electric displays, featuring floats, bands, queens, clowns, horses, Santa Claus and much more. Island of Lights Holiday Flotilla
Fishing boats and pleasure crafts electrically decorated with thousands of lights present a spectacular display on the Intracoastal Waterway. The parade of boats will cruise from Snows Cut to Carolina Beach Boat Basin and back. A unique coastal tradition sure to please the hearts of all. Cash prizes are awarded. View from one of the Winner Boats or anywhere along the waterway. Public parking is free and the Flotilla begins at 6pm. Island of Lights New Year's Eve Countdown
The New Year's Celebration will be held at the Carolina Beach Boardwalk near the Gazebo. Don't miss the giant lighted beach ball being dropped at midnight followed by a spectacular fireworks demonstration. This free family-friendly event will feature a DJ and dancing with refreshments and party favors available for purchase. In an Island of Lights tradition, there will be a raffle, with the winner taking home the original artwork for the 2011 official Christmas card and ornament. Bring the family to join the festivities.
