Spring is here. The temperatures are warming. The beach is as beautiful as ever. If you are coming to visit us here in Carolina Beach or Kure Beach during the months of March or April 2016, here are some of the local Carolina Beach events and attractions that you will not want to miss.

Here are the special events that are scheduled for March and April 2016.
STEVE HAYDU ST. PATRICKS LO-TIDE RUN
Carolina Beach Lake Park, 4th Street & Clarendon Street, Carolina Beach, NC
Come and participate in the 12th annual 10k run or the 5k run/walk. It is a flat PR course with USTAF Certification. An awards ceremony will follow the run and an after party will be held at The Lazy Pirate. Registration is at 7:00 a.m. and the race begins at 8:20 a.m. If registered before March 1st, the admission is $30, after March 1st $35 and the day of the race is $40. Students and military personal receive a $5 discount.
PLEASURE ISLAND CHOWDER COOK-OFF
Carolina Beach Lake Park, Atlanta Ave & S. Lake Park Blvd, Carolina Beach, NC
The 20th annual cook-off draws chefs from area restaurants from Pleasure Island, Monkey Junction and Wilmington to compete. There will be plenty of food, live music, games for the kids, face painting and much more. Admission is only $5 per person.
5K RACE FOR THE PLANET
NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher, 900 Loggerhead Road, Kure Beach
The race will start and end at the Fort Fisher Aquarium. The course is flat and mostly asphalt and features scenic ocean and maritime forest views along with a pass by the historic Fort Fisher Civil War site. Participants will receive organic t-shirts, reusable shopping bags and free admission to the aquarium that day along with medals to the winners. Check-in is at 7:30 a.m. and the race begins at 8:00 a.m. Advanced registration is $30, after April 1st it is $35.
KURE BEACH STREET FESTIVAL
Ocean Front Park & Along Atlantic Avenue, Kure Beach
This year’s even will offer family entertainment geared towards children, live music, dancing and more. There will be plenty of food vendors, arts and craft booths and beautiful views of the Atlantic Ocean. Admission is free and the festival runs from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

FREEMAN PARK, PLEASURE ISLAND – Because of beach re-nourishment preparations, areas north of Zone 10 will be closed to vehicles from February 29 to May, 2016. Campsites #1 through #63 will have obstructed ocean views and beach access. If you have any questions, please contact the Carolina Town Hall at (910) 458-2999.
