Surf School Is Never Out For Summer

It’s heating up outside and summer is just a little over 50 days away. If you are a local beachgoer or just visiting the Carolina Beach area, consider picking up a new sport: surfing. It is a way of life for the locals on the southern coast of the Carolinas. When the weather gets warm and the waves get higher, that is the best time to catch the wave of a long-popular sport.

Surf School Is Never Out For Summer

Surfing is not just for the Pacific coast or Hawaiian islands. North Carolina beaches enjoy beautiful sunny weather and big waves too during the summer months. It is also pretty hot in the south, so anything you can do in the water is that much more enjoyable. Surfing is one of the oldest practiced sport and is a blend of athleticism and the art of understanding the ocean better.

Carolina Beach and the surrounding area offer the opportunity to learn the sport from the professional surfer, Tony Silvagni. He has been a professional surf coach for 10 years but has an award-winning past of competition for an additional decade. Tony and his team of nine other pro surfers offer private, group and advanced lessons in surfing. In addition to their surf lesson options, they also teach paddle boarding and feature kayak tours and surf parties. It doesn’t get much better than spending the day with the pros of learning how to conquer the waves. The Carolina Beach Surf Camp is a great way to spend a week of your time if you are really serious about learning the ins and outs of the sport. The camp is offered April through September. Check out more about Tony and his team at the Tony Silvagni Surf School!

Travel down the road just a little bit from Carolina Beach to neighboring Wrightsville Beach and pick up some surf lessons from WB Surf Camp. Beginner to advanced coaching is available as well as private and group sessions as well. Instruction is on the beach and in the water. Wrightsville Beach is one of America’s Top 10 surfing towns, so it is a great place to learn! Stand up paddle board lessons are also available. It is one of the most active towns on the coast and boasts five mails of sandy beach and clear horizons of the waves.

Odysea is also another great option to learn how to surf. They “produce more smiles and fun per capita than any other surf schools.” They enjoy teaching in a fun and positive environment for learning and have over 30 years of experience. Lessons are offered on Carolina and Kure Beaches as well as camps certain times of the year. They have a fun Marine Quest experience with activities for kids ranging from 10-17 years old.
